 Explorers, travelers, and climbers alike have long been seduced by the mythos and excitement of Mount Everest and the dynamic region of the Sherpa people. While the world’s greatest peaks characterize the mighty Khumbu region, trekkers have the opportunity to explore its lower majesty. Along the way, trekkers are showered with impressions of ancient Tibetan Buddhism as we visit and learn from our staff and friends living in these inspiring monastic communities.
For one, it has the highest mountain on earth, Mt. Everest or Chomolongmo. If that is not enough to boast many other giants including Lotche (most difficult mountain), Cho Yu, Thamserku, Kangtega , Ama Dablang, (the most beautiful mountain), to name a few. These mountains’ unique character and their own beauty are rarely found elsewhere. Amidst these giants lies the homeland of the Sherpa people Khumbu .These rugged mountain valleys are home to some of the world’s highest settlements (above 4000m).
The less ambitious visitor will find magnificent hiking trails to explore the diverse landscape of the many side valleys. There are different approaches and modes of travel to reach Khumbu from different direction.
